Why there will always be more power in giving!

The Go-Giver is a business book written by Bob Burg and John D. Mann.

This book was published back in 2007 when I was a full-time recruiter. Working in an industry that is so focussed on getting, I was used to the mindset of always be closing and the deal, at any cost but this book changed my life and I have a well-dogeared copy that has seen many years of use since.

The story is around Joe, a young salesperson. Joe is energetic and ambitious, but lately, it seems that no matter how hard he squeezes he just can’t get the juice! After one particularly rough sales quarter he seeks the mentorship of The Chairman.

Through five friends of The Chairman Joe learns of the “Five Laws of Stratospheric Success”:

Why there will always be more power in giving, than getting!

Value: Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.

Compensation: Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them

Influence: Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people’s interests first

Authenticity: The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.

Receptivity: The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.

The Go-Giver is a powerful little book with a radically simple message, it’s a stunning story built on the adage of ‘give and you shall receive“.
